Demonstrate your willingness to Proactive Resolution

At Alexander Christian, we are committed to supporting our clients not only through high-quality mediation services but also by providing practical tools that demonstrate their commitment to resolving disputes constructively.

We are pleased to now offer Participation Certificates to individuals who attend either an intake session or a mediation session—whether for co-parent mediation or business mediation.

What is a Participation Certificate?

A Participation Certificate is a certificate confirming that you have taken part in a mediation intake or mediation session.

It can be a valuable record of your willingness to engage in the mediation process.

Why Might This Be Useful?

Mediation doesn't always go ahead or lead to a full resolution—and that’s okay.

There are many reasons why mediation may not proceed or conclude successfully, including:

  • It may be too early for one or both parties to fully engage in the process.

  • The other party may be unwilling to participate or continue.

  • The parties may be unable to reach agreement—in part or in full.

  • The matter may be unsuitable for mediation, due to complexity, legal constraints, or other circumstances.

In these situations, having a Participation Certificate can be helpful. It shows that you took positive steps to explore resolution and engaged in the process in good faith, even if mediation could not continue.

Why Request a Participation Certificate?

The benefits to you could be:

Shows Willingness to Mediate: Willingness to consider mediation is a strong commitment to change

Mediation is voluntary: Not only did you make an inquiry about mediation - you showed up - this can provide a powerful signal that you are willing to mediate, willing to listen, willing to collaborate to resolution, willing to put the work into resolving the issue yourself, and willing to do so in person

Positive step forward: Often in disputes people feel that they do not have any agency the events happen to them, by considering mediation you are exploring your options to resolve a dispute or a difference, and that can feel empowering

Proactive: It reflects your proactive approach to resolving disputes, which may be valuable in ongoing discussions or professional contexts

Provides a Record of Attendance: Yes, you showed up - ideal for your own record or to show a third party that you participated in mediation in good faith

Optional and affordable: Available for a small additional fee on top of the intake or mediation session cost
