Do I have to wait a year?

Yes, you have to wait a year from the date of the marriage before you are eligible to apply. 

What is the ground for a divorce?

The ground is that the marriage has irretrievably broken down. 


How long does the process take?

There are several stages to a divorce. There are minimum periods of reflection which mean that the minimum period could be around 7 months.  However, attempting to resolve other issues such as the division of the finances can result in the final order being delayed. 


What is the court fee?

The court fee is £612 presently, however this fee increases from time to time and consideration should be given to the government published family fee information.  


You can apply for an exemption from the court fee if you are eligible.
