Domestic violence is widespread in every community and all people regardless of age, socio-economic background, gender, race, religion or nationality. Domestic violence takes many forms, including: physical violence, emotional abuse, controlling behaviour. This is part of a systematic pattern of dominance and control. The Theory of the Cycle of Violence has defined three distinct phases in a violent relationship: 1. Tension Building 2. Violent Episode and 3. Remorseful/ Honeymoon .
